Cossington Park Surgery

Appointments

Due to the current situation we are unable to operate the open access system for doctor’s appointments.  This means there is a high demand on our current telephone system.  Please be aware that we have three incoming lines, all of which are manned from 8.00 am until 6:30pm by our reception team.  We are currently dealing with over 400 calls a day and over 600  during peak times such as Monday and Friday. We appreciate that the phone lines are extremely busy but we are unable to increase our call answering capacity.  Please be polite to our Reception staff we are doing our very best to deal with calls as quickly as we can.

Help us to Help you

There are a number of ways you can contact the surgery without using the telephone.

  1. Register for on line services – this means that you will be able to order your prescription via the internet (and book appointments when they become available)
  2. Drop in a prescription request at the surgery – simply use the left hand portion of your prescription to indicate which medication you need and pop it in our letterbox which is just outside the front door.
  3. We are still dealing with patient queries from the reception lobby area, but please do not turn up expecting to be seen. You may think we are not busy as our waiting area appears empty, but this is not the case, all patients are being telephoned by the GP during our normal working hours.  If you have booked a telephone consultation, we are sorry that we are unable to give you a specific call back time but please bear with us and be aware that calls from the GP will be from a withheld number so make sure you change your mobile phone settings to enable you to receive a call back.

Thank you for your understanding at this difficult time.

The practice has an appointment system in order for you to see a Doctor or Nurse.

Consultations will normally commence on time but we will inform you if your appointment is unavoidably delayed.

In the event of an emergency we will endeavour to offer you an appointment on the same day of your request.

You can book appointments:

  • in advance
  • online (you will need an online account, please speak to our reception staff)
  • at reception
  • over the phone

Telephone Advice

We also provide routine and emergency telephone appointments. They would be most suitable when you need to speak to us but do not necessary need to be see a doctor face-to-face, for example to discuss blood test or other investigation results, sick notes, some queries on your medications etc.

Please telephone the surgery and speak to a receptionist, leaving a contact number and nature of the problem, your GP will return your call – most probably after their surgery unless it’s an emergency. If you need to speak to our Practice Nurse, please telephone the surgery.

Be On Time / Cancelling Appointments

Please arrive promptly for your appointment. If you are not able to make your appointment, please cancel as soon as possible to enable others to benefit.

If you are more than 10min late then your appointment will be cancelled and you will be asked to book another appointment. Help us to Help you.

SMS Facility

If you wish us to use SMS facility to remind you about your appointments, test results or any other any communications then please ask at reception. Please remember to inform us if you change your mobile number.
